I was thinkin' these thoughts 'cause the Catapult hitboxes have changed:
If you take one of the meta-Thunderbolts into battle, you use a standard engine, right?
Whether it's the TDR-5S or the TDR-9SE Thunderwub, your armament is pretty lopsided, and most of your enemies know it.
Your Left Torso has 3 lasers, *and* it will take a lot of the hits.
If that torso gets blown off you've lost 3/4 of your weapons.
...Unless you had the 3xLPL Thunderwub. Then you've lost ALL your weapons, and "stick mode" sucks.
ErrantWings386 asked me "Why do you use a standard engine, if the side torso takes all those hits, and losing it turns you into a stick?"
Actually, my TDRs more often get taken out by the CT being shot out.
When I've gotten the torso twist right, I've had many CW battles where an arm gets shot off before a side torso, and I've had a few where the TDR loses the Right torso because I shielded appropriately with it.
Therefore, I'm going to keep the standard engine in my TDR-5S(P).
I might put an XL and 4xLPL in a Thunderwub again.
BUT...
The Catapult is also a 65-ton mech, and the hitboxes have recently been rearranged so that a standard engine could make it a lot tankier, in theory.
...And it's symmetrical. It can get its side torso blown off, and still have *half* its weapons. None of this losing 3/4 at a time. No more "Stick Mode" just because you lost your LT.
I've also seen people bring a Jester or K2 into Community Warfare, and as far as I can tell they haven't sabotaged our team.
Maybe it's time for me to rebuild some Catapults and run some tests.
